かたい

hard: 押しつぶしたり, 壊したり, 切ったりすることができないほどかたいことをいう. 時にかたすぎることも示す

firm: 完全にかたいわけではなく, 弾力がありほどよくかたく良い印象を与える〘ほめて〙 用いる語. 体が引き締まっていたり, 果物の身が締まっていること, 決意･信念･結論がかたいという場合にも用いられる

tough: 簡単に壊れたり弱めることができないことをいい, 肉などをかみ切れない場合にも用いる

solid: 液体や気体以外の凝固した物質が密でかたいことや, 構造などがしっかりしていることを表す

stiff: ドア･引き出しがかたくて開かない場合や, えりや紙などに用いられ, かたく曲げることが難しい様子をいう

rigid: 物質がかたく, 動いたり曲がったりしにくいが, もろく壊れる可能性がある場合にも用いる
