限界を設定する

limit: 達しない、達することが許されないものを超える(時間、空間、速度、程度におけるように)点や線の設定を暗示

e.g. visits are limited to 30 minutes: 訪問は30分に制限される

restrict: 取り囲まれた境界線の範囲内に、もしくはまるで範囲内にいるかのように狭めること、厳しくすること、禁じることを示唆

e.g. laws intended to restrict the freedom of the press: 報道の自由を制限することを意図した法

circumscribe: すべての側の、明確に定義された境界線による制限を強調

e.g. the work of the investigating committee was carefully circumscribed: 調査委員会の仕事は注意深く制限された。

confine: 厳しい制限と結果として生じる妨害、拘束、身動きが取れないことを示唆する

e.g. our choices were confined by finances: 私達の選択は財源によって制限されていた。

withhold (information) from general circulation or disclosure: 全体に渡る広まりや曝露から(情報を)差し控える
