Psychologyでは

感覚(sensation)は感覚器の物理化学エネルギーの受容で、知覚(perception)は感覚より高次の処理段階。

感覚

sense: 外界の刺激･影響に対する感覚的および精神的な能力をいい, 主に内的に備わっている感覚を指す

sensation: 触覚による外的な刺激に対する感覚的な反応で, 特に視覚的･神経的な反応を表す

sensibility: 感覚的または情緒的に感応する力で, しばしば芸術的な感性を意味する際に好まれる

1. a physical feeling or perception resulting from something that happens to or comes into contact with the body:

e.g. a burning sensation in the middle of the chest.

the capacity to have physical sensations:

e.g. they had lost sensation in one or both forearms.

an inexplicable awareness or impression:

e.g. with clause : she had the eerie sensation that she was being watched.

2. a widespread reaction of interest and excitement:

e.g. his arrest for poisoning caused a sensation.

a person, object, or event that arouses widespread interest and excitement:

それを引き起こした人［物, 事］

e.g. she was a sensation, the talk of the evening.
