1. reporting verb accept or admit the existence or truth of: 存在や真実を受け入れる、認める

acknowledge A: A(事実・過失など)を認める、認知する

e.g. with object : the plight of the refugees was acknowledged by the authorities: 難民の苦境は当局に認知された。

acknowledge that: 〜であると認める、認知する
